Poetry - from the HA
Darkness cold and grim
Falls upon the infirm bed,
Filling paupers' hearts with joy,
And rich men's hearts with dread.
Life has come and life has passed,
Memory fades away.
Woe to them that waste their lives,
And never hark that day.
The time will come for all to leave,
To leave this earth behind,
And each will have his every word
Replayed within his mind.
What will result that fateful day,
When all men's hearts are known?
Will you rejoice and join with me,
In awe before the Throne?
Or will you hear the Risen Lord,
Proclaiming loud and clear,
"Depart from me, you evil one,
You have no welcome here."
Oh, for the ones that hear that word,
As memories fade to pain!
Their life was ended to their loss,
And Hell their only gain.
